To become an Eagle Scout, one has to design and carry out a community service project. With the large number of Eagle Scouts in our troop, Eagle projects are an ongoing part of the troop. We have several projects in progress right now. Peter L. - Constructing a Lean-To at Sturges Park. David S.: My project involves several improvements to the Ridgefield Rail Trail. First, I plan to construct and install new distance markers every quarter mile for the length of the trail. These markers will be more substantial than the ones currently there, more visible, and more permanent. Also, I plan to construct a small kiosk-type structure at the Rail Trail parking lot on Halpin Dr that includes a small bench and stretching rail, as well as a bulletin board with a map and other related notices.
